Okay so here’s the thing—everyone says they love brownies, but not everyone agrees on what kind. Some ppl like ‘em cakey (?? why tho) but if you’re team fudgy, welcome you’re in the right place.

Cakey brownies are fine or whatever but fudgy ones? They’re dense, gooey, and rich af. Here’s how to get that perfect fudgy brownie at home — no weird ingredients, no fancy equipment, just vibes and chocolate

What You’ll Need (a.k.a the good stuff)

  • 1/2 cup (115g) butter (unsalted is best)

  • 1 cup sugar (can do half brown sugar if ur feelin fancy)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • Optional but : chocolate chips, walnuts, espresso powder

How to Make Fudgy Brownies (Not Cake Bricks)

1. Melt the butter first

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave (don’t boil it omg)

  • Pour it into a bowl and add sugar while it’s still warm – stir it up good

Hot butter + sugar = shiny tops

2. Add eggs one at a time

  • Crack in the eggs and mix well, like REALLY well.

  • This part is lowkey important—mix for at least a minute

  • It helps get that chewy texture not crumbly mess

3. Stir in vanilla + cocoa

  • Add vanilla and sift in cocoa powder (or just dump it tbh)

  • Mix till smooth, dark and chocolatey like a dream

  • Should be kinda thick and glossy by now

4. Add flour + salt (but don’t overmix!!)

  • Fold in flour + salt

  • Don’t go crazy mixing here — just till it’s combined

  • Overmix = cakey. We don’t want that here ‍♀️

5. Throw in extras (if u want)

  • Add choc chips, chunks, chopped nuts, whatever

  • A lil espresso powder makes the chocolate POP btw (just 1/2 tsp)

6. Bake it low n slow

  • Pour batter into greased or lined 8×8 inch pan

  • Bake at 325°F (160°C) for about 25–30 mins

  • Don’t overbake!! Check at 25 mins – edges should look set, middle a lil soft

  • Stick a toothpick in – some goo is fine. Dry = overbaked = sadness

7. Let. Them. Cool.

  • Fr bro don’t cut them right away. Let them cool for at least 30–40 mins

  • They firm up as they cool = extra fudgy

  • Or chill in fridge if u wanna go full dense fudge mode

Pro Tips (aka stuff I learned the hard way)

  • No baking powder or soda – that makes them rise = cake

  • Use real butter not margarine

  • Brown sugar adds extra moisture if u want that chewy edge

  • DO NOT OVERBAKE. It’s the no.1 fudgy killer

Final Thoughts

If u follow these steps (and don’t get distracted scrolling TikTok while baking), you’ll get the most fudgy, gooey, rich brownies ever. Not dry. Not cakey. Just .

So yeah, grab ur stuff, preheat the oven and get baking. And try not to eat all the batter before it even goes in (no judgement if u do tho )
